Attendance

LAUSD Attendance Policy
The LAUSD goal is for all students to maintain an Excellent Attendance rate of 96% or higher throughout the entire school year. This means having no more than 7 total absences during the school year. Every student is expected to attend school on a daily basis, unless there is valid justification for his/her absence.

Student absences will result in: an automated phone call to parent/guardian, a record of absence on attendance records, progress reports and report cards, and truancy letter(s) (if unexcused).

Absence Verification
Every time your child is absent, he/she must bring a note to the Main Office upon returning to school. If the absence is for more than five (5) consecutive days, a doctor’s note will be requested.

Verification of a student's absence should occur in the form of:
  • Parent/legal guardian note
  • Doctor's note
  • Court paperwork
All notes must include:
  • Student's first and last name
  • Date(s) of absence
  • Reason for absence
  • Parent/Guardian name and signature
  • Date of birth (optional)
