11th Grade English
Welcome to 11th Grade English!
English 11 focuses on strengthening and developing students' skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. This year is important as it is the year that students take the SBAC. This test helps determine college placement in English and Math classes when applying to four-year school in California. Throughout the year students read influential pieces of American literature and analyze them to learn how the United States of America has been shaped and/or influenced through writing.
Our classes units of study include the following:
FALL
- Intro to Rhetoric
- Rhetoric of the Revolution
- Rhetoric of Civil Rights
- American Gothic Literature
SPRING
- The Crucible
- Essential Skills Bootcamp
- Ordinary Lives, Extraordinary Tales
A copy of the curriculum maps can be found here. This includes an overview of the units being taught in the class and weekly lesson plans. This document will reflect changes made throughout the semester. Any questions about the curriculum can be addressed to [email protected].
